Under CMPC’s commitment to the community, especially in the context of the coronavirus health crisis, the company, through Softys, acquired a total of five machines to manufacture surgical-type masks.

Two of them have already landed the weekend of April 10 in Chile and Brazil and are in the process of being assembled, while the others will be installed in Peru, Mexico and also in Brazil (adding two in that country).

Thus, CMPC will achieve a production of 18 million 500 thousand masks per month in the four countries.

In each country, the masks will be delivered free of charge to public health services, and only the percentage necessary for the care of company workers will be reserved.

The delivery of the masks is expected to begin in Chile in early May.

In addition to this initiative, CMPC, also through Softys, made a donation to the National Service for the Elder People of Chile (SENAMA) consisting of 100,000 units of Cotidian adult diapers and one thousand units of 1-liter Elite Professional alcohol gel bottles.

SENAMA will be in charge of distributing this aid, which will be delivered by the public entity in the most affected regions, such as La Araucanía, Biobío, Ñuble and Metropolitana.

On the other hand, continuing with CMPC’s commitment to its neighbors, the company will take sanitary measures in the Chilean communes of Puente Alto (Metropolitan region), Nacimiento, Laja, Los Angeles and Mulchén (Biobío region) and Villa Mininco (La Araucanía region), such as disinfection in public spaces, entrances of health centers, entrances of the plants of the company, and in the busiest streets.

Also, together with Desafío Levantemos Chile, the company is part of the “Mobile Clinics” project, an initiative that seeks to decongest the public and private health network of the Biobío and La Araucanía regions through vans that allow people to take medical care at their private homes, get medicines, get vaccinated against flu and even test for the coronavirus without having to leave their homes.

In addition, CMPC committed to the Biobío Intendency its former corporate building in the city of Los Angeles, so that it can be used as a field hospital for sick people without major complications, and thus help decongest the health centers of the Biobío province and allow more space and equipment for those who need to be hospitalized because they are infected with coronavirus. This place will have available 200 beds.
